What is the Ministry Development Year (MDY)?

The MDY is a ten month programme designed to help individuals develop their professional, ministerial and leadership skills through theological training and practical church ministry experience.

We offer the MDY as a full time or part time year which gives the opportunity for a part time job alongside doing the MDY.

 

What are the streams?

  • We love our kids and long to see them encounter Jesus and grow as disciples. We run amazing groups on Sundays and much more. If you want to invest in the hearts and minds of the young then this is for you.

  • We are passionate about loving and investing in the young people of Blackpool. If you’re passionate about working with young people, then the Youth Stream is for you.

  • We love to spending time worshipping Jesus and leading others to a place of worship so if you have a passion for music or production then this is the perfect stream for you to invest in your craft.

  • Do you want to see big things happen but want to serve and lead behind the scenes? Are you gifted in organisation and planning? Come and join the team behind the scenes!

  • We are passionate about loving and supporting the people of Blackpool. If you have a heart for the marginalised and long to see the transformation of society then this is the stream for you.

  • We want everyone in our town to hear the amazing good news of Jesus. If you are passionate about communicating who Jesus is through photography, videography, graphic design or digital marketing, this is the stream for you.

  • We are passionate about playing our part in the revitalisation of the church and raising up the next generation of church leaders. So if you feel called to full-time ordained ministry, we would love to support you as you explore this call.

  • What would I do in an average week as a Full Time MDY?

    4 days serving on your stream

    1 day training at Emmanuel College

    2 days off *

    *We value rest highly, so recommend that at least 1 day off is taken as rest.

  • What would I do in an average week as a Part Time MDY?

    3 days serving on your stream

    1 day training at Emmanuel College

    3 days off*

    *We value rest highly, so recommend that at least 1 day off is taken as rest.

  • What is the theological training like?

    You will join the first year students at Emmanuel Theological College, in Liverpool, for teaching. You will get to receive the amazing teaching without needing to write any essays.

  • How much is MDY?

    £500*

    This contributes towards the fees and travel expenses for the theological training at Emmanuel Theological College.

  • How much is accommodation?

    £500*

    If you need accommodation for the year, this contributes towards living with a host family and for breakfast and an evening meal every day.

  • How long is the MDY?

    10 months starting in mid September and finishing at the end of July.
